June’s fashion calendar was men’s fashion week in Milan and Paris, held in a heat wave, and it kept turning into a music story. Pharrell premiered songs at his show, Madonna and Charli xcx shared a row, and Fred again.. scored a Dior morning. Two houses that dress pop stars also lost their designers. Here are the seven moments worth remembering, in the order they happened.
June 19: Moschino Parts With Adrian Appiolaza

Moschino’s parent company, Aeffe, announced that after more than two years the house and Appiolaza had mutually agreed to end their partnership as of June 19. Executive chairman Massimo Ferretti thanked him for “the significant contribution to the development of Moschino over the years.” Appiolaza’s own line was warm: “I was given a great opportunity to express my creativity for an important Italian brand,” he said. The house promised a new creative direction shortly, and it came in September, when the Sunnei duo debuted in a Milan parking garage.
June 21: Prada Builds a Collection Out of Skinny Jeans

Miuccia Prada, who has said she has never worn jeans, and Raf Simons called their menswear collection “Clarity” and said they wanted “to do something new with ‘nothing’.” The result was skinny denim in cream, pale pink and acid green, leather waistcoats worn high enough to show the navel, small pouches hanging from belts and a final look in canary-yellow denim, all on a transparent floor lit from below at Fondazione Prada. ENHYPEN, who attended as house ambassadors, and Troye Sivan watched. Full story.
June 23: Pharrell Turns Paris Into a Beach
Louis Vuitton’s show had a wall of water, a sandy runway and four unreleased songs: Quavo’s “Haavin,” Lil Baby’s “Dead Fresh,” YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s “Simulation” and a version of Angélique Kidjo’s “Bando,” played with a live orchestra and the Voices of Fire choir. Complex called the set “one of the best we have seen from Pharrell at Louis Vuitton.” Future, Missy Elliott, Coco Jones, Skepta, Lola Young and Jeremy Allen White sat in the front rows. Full story.
June 23: Madonna and Charli xcx, Side by Side at Saint Laurent

Anthony Vaccarello filled the Bourse de Commerce with Fujiko Nakaya’s fog installation, Cloud #07156, while Paris sat at around 40 degrees. Madonna, in a raspberry-pink lace minidress, took the seat between Charli xcx, in cherry-red leather, and Connor Storrie, and Dazed said the trio “resembled a gay man’s Mount Rushmore.” It mattered because Charli’s single “Rock Music” has a lyric declaring the dance floor dead, and Madonna had replied on Instagram in May. Yung Lean in a duster and Rami Malek in heavy leather sweated it out nearby. Full story.
June 24: Dior Moves Its Show to 9 A.M., and Fred again.. Plays the Party

Jonathan Anderson’s men’s show was moved up to 9 a.m. for the heat, with cold towels, strawberries and parasols at the door. Fred again.. soundtracked it with a mix that ran from KTNA and Mabe Fratti to Jamie T, and Anderson described the mood as “something quite formal becoming undone,” in a collection of loosened tuxedos, ripped denim and disco-ball boots. Pharrell, Jimin and Little Simz sat in the front row. Full story.
June 24: Julien Dossena Leaves Rabanne

After 13 years, Rabanne said Julien Dossena was leaving. Ana Trias, Puig’s president of prestige and fashion brands, said he had “profoundly shaped a new era for Rabanne,” and W recalled the red-carpet looks he made for Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus and Anya Taylor-Joy, plus a dress for Sabrina Carpenter at the 2022 Met Gala. The house said a successor would come “in due time.” Three weeks later it named Olivier Rousteing.
June 26: Willy Chavarria Gets a Knicks Champion on the Runway

Jordan Clarkson’s runway debut, weeks after the Knicks’ championship, came in a Knicks-blue leather jacket and pink plaid shorts and was Complex’s best celebrity moment: “Not a bad victory lap for the NBA vet.” The show, “Comunión,” also featured the singer Judeline in her modeling debut, Romeo Beckham and the first piece of Chavarria’s UGG collaboration, with music directed by Michel Gaubert. Complex picked it as the best collection of the week. Full story.

Gunna had the week’s quietest good style, in calm brown at Rick Owens and black at Vetements, and in a hand-painted leather jacket at 424, according to Complex. In July, the conversation moves to couture, and to Taylor Swift’s Dior wedding gown.
