Moschino’s new creative directors skipped the runway and built a street. Loris Messina and Simone Rizzo, the Sunnei founders who took over the house this summer, showed their first collection on Friday (Sept. 25) on the roof of a parking garage on the edge of Milan, where hundreds of people filled the space as if it were a busy city street. Then the models walked in from the opposite side.
The crowd was the point. The pair invited more than 400 friends, colleagues, photographers, editors and industry regulars to walk alongside the models, Hypebae reported, and the clothes were built for that street: everyday, functional proportions with clean paneling, drawn from a study of the archive. W Magazine counted it as the only official creative-director debut of a Milan week with more than 50 shows.
Reignite Moschino without imitating it

The palette was a vivid citrine, and the odd details were deliberate: a cat-shaped clutch and skirts with oversized rears, per Monocle. Hypebae spotted stacked tank tops under cropped dark jackets, green plaid shirts and a white “GOOD LUCK” T-shirt tucked into lean green trousers.

The manifesto is the best guide to the idea. Alongside its first line sit “Irony is a stance” and “Study the archive,” and it ends on “Speak to real people,” all quoted by Hypebae. A rooftop of actual commuters is the most literal version of that last one.

For Messina and Rizzo this is a second act. Aeffe, Moschino’s parent company, named them on June 22 to replace Adrian Appiolaza, who had spent about two and a half years at the house, Fashion Week Daily reported. Their own label, Sunnei, is now defunct and in liquidation. In 2025 they announced their exit in a live Christie’s auction stunt in which they were “unboxed” and sold for “95 million fashion dollars” to an anonymous phone bidder.
Aeffe’s executive chairman, Massimo Ferretti, said at the time that “the ability to balance identity and innovation is essential” in the life of a fashion house. Milan’s other big handover happened three days earlier, when Glenn Martens left Diesel in a show full of moans and dancers.
