Miuccia Prada has said she has never worn jeans and probably never will. On Sunday (June 21), she and Raf Simons built a whole menswear collection out of them. “Clarity,” Prada’s Spring/Summer 2027 show in Milan, put jeans, jean jackets and the Canadian tuxedo on the runway, all cut skinny, with a message that fit the denim: nothing fancy, nothing extra.
“The ambition was to do something new with ‘nothing’, against exaggeration, against complex material. Against useless design,” the designers said in a statement, as quoted by Asharq Al-Awsat. Models walked on a transparent floor lit from beneath by fluorescent panels at Fondazione Prada’s Deposito, behind the Australian model Julia Nobis. FashionUnited calls the idea a “distillation” of the wardrobe, an “exercise in clarity” and “an antidote to complication.” Prada’s own film of the show is below.
The clothes did the arguing. Denim came in cream, pale pink and acid green rather than indigo, jackets became fitted shirts, and Simons described the garments as “rematerialized, rescaled, or their use reversed.” Leather tops and waistcoats were worn high enough to show the navel, translucent shirt-jackets and trousers showed their seams, and small pouches hung from large belts. Prada still slipped in a few of its usual jokes: retro curtain prints on snug sweater vests and skinny jeans, anise green and Pepto-Bismol pink, and a final look in canary-yellow denim.

The guest list skewed young and musical. Troye Sivan and Louis Partridge were there, along with all six members of ENHYPEN, who attended as Prada house ambassadors: Jungwon in a black trench, Jake with fresh grey highlights, Sunghoon back to his pre-debut gold hair. NCT’s Jaehyun wore a bright pink zip-up with the sleeves rolled to the elbow.

Milan’s men’s week ran until Thursday, and Prada’s show was a quiet counterpoint to Paris, where Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton show went off two days later with an orchestra and a beach. Prada returned to Milan in September with womenswear that counted 63 ways to wear a skirt.
