The tour announcement came in orange letters at the end of “Provenza.” As Karol G screamed into her microphone for the crowd to look up, the giant screens behind her flashed “Nos Vamos de Tour,” which Rolling Stone translated as “We’re going on tour.” It capped her second Coachella headline set on Sunday (April 19), a night that also marked the festival’s final one for 2026.
Her first weekend had already made history. Karol G told the crowd then, “I am Carolina Giraldo from Medellin, Colombia. And today, I am the first Latina woman to headline Coachella,” Complex reported. Weekend two was the sequel with a deeper guest list: J Balvin and Ryan Castro joined for a run of hits, Peso Pluma came out for their 2023 collaboration “Qlona,” and Becky G returned for “Mamiii.”
The guests
Balvin went first with “Ay Vamos,” “Ginza” and “La Canción,” then Castro joined for a medley of collaborations and his own songs. Rolling Stone read the pairing as a tribute to Colombian reggaeton’s beginnings and its next generation, and as a full-circle moment for Balvin, who also joined Karol G onstage for her first Coachella set in 2022. Their timing was good: Balvin and Castro’s joint album, Omerta, was due May 8.

Karol G explained her thinking to Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddy. “I want to bring someone that has made, like, a statement for life, you know, a legacy, a pioneer of of what we do and why we’re here,” she said. Weekend one’s guests had been the reggaeton pioneer Wisin, Mariah Angeliq, Becky G and Cigarettes After Sex’s Greg Gonzales, who performed the new song “Después de Ti” with her.
Why it matters
The tour is for Tropicoqueta, her fourth studio album, which came out in June 2025; fans had been clamoring for a tour since, Rolling Stone said. She told Cooper the plan had been to start touring, “but then I was like, ‘Let’s stop everything and let’s just focus about this,’” meaning Coachella. Her last run, the Mañana Será Bonito tour of 2023-2024, was record-breaking, so fans have waited a long time for the follow-up.
The festival bump showed up on the charts too. Billboard reported that Tropicoqueta re-entered the Billboard 200 at No. 116 with nearly 13,000 units for the week ending April 16, up 51%. It reflected the first weekend only, so weekend two’s gains were still to come.
The tour came into focus later: the Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour’s U.S. leg opened July 24 at Soldier Field in Chicago, and Elena Rose, who wrote “Mamiii,” opened 10 dates. By August, Karol G had also moved on to a bluer album, No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto.
