Grand Theft Auto VI doesn’t arrive until Nov. 19, and it’s already rearranging other people’s plans. In a week and a half, it turned an Xbox cloud deal into a console-war headline, put Nintendo’s U.S. president on the spot and gave the Miami Heat a new name for a night.
The streaming story moved fastest. On Tuesday (Oct. 6), The Verge’s Tom Warren reported that Xbox had landed exclusive rights to stream the game through Xbox Cloud Gaming at launch, Kotaku reported. The tip-off was Xbox CEO Asha Sharma telling staff at an all-hands meeting that Microsoft had something planned for the game that “no other platform holder is doing.” By that night, Xbox’s chief strategy officer was correcting the record.
Matthew Ball@ballmatthewXWhile the excitement for GTAVI and XBOX is great to see, it has also led to some misreporting. We are looking forward to launching GTAVI on XBOX November 19, though the game will not be streaming exclusively or to PC.
Oct 6, 2026 · View on X ↗Yahoo Tech reads that as a console-only arrangement: Xbox Cloud Gaming can still stream the game from day one, but to Xbox consoles rather than the browsers and apps the service usually reaches. That matters because Rockstar still hasn’t announced a PC version, so the cloud won’t be a back door for PC players. Xbox is reworking the service at the same time: from November it caps cloud play at 15 hours a month on Game Pass Ultimate, 10 on Premium and five on Essential, and adds a pay-as-you-go option, according to Kotaku.
Nintendo isn’t saying no
Asked by Variety whether GTA VI is coming to Switch 2, which has sold more than 23 million units since June 2025, Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard passed the question along: “That’s going to be a conversation for Take Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”

Nintendo’s own November swing is a Switch 2 remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, out Nov. 5, two weeks before Rockstar’s game, per Game Informer. Saturday Night Live has already staged the showdown: on Oct. 3, Weekend Update brought out Mikey Day as Link and Marcello Hernández as GTA’s Jason to talk about their competing games.
Miami becomes Vice City
Then there’s the Heat. On Nov. 18, the eve of launch, the team hosts the Milwaukee Bucks at Kaseya Center as Vice City, on a one-night-only court and in an all-new uniform, with the game on ESPN. A “Welcome to Vice City” sign is already lit up on top of the arena, Kotaku reports. The Heat announced it like this:
Miami HEAT@MiamiHEATXFor one night only, the HEAT trade Miami for Vice City. Join us on November 18, when Vice City hosts the Milwaukee Bucks on a never-before-seen court, wearing an all-new uniform. This is A Night in Vice City. Also live on ESPN. For details, visit HEAT.com/ViceCity
Oct 2, 2026 · View on X ↗The music is filling in too. Rockstar has named six artist-hosted radio stations, from Bad Bunny and RaiNao’s Cocoteo FM to Slayer’s Kerry King and Tom Araya on The Chamber 106.6 (here’s the full lineup). Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, 34 original tracks including Cardi B’s “Don’t Chart,” comes out with the game (more on the album).
The newest footage is still Rockstar’s “Extended Look,” released Aug. 27 and captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. Watch it below.
What won’t be there on day one is an online mode. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told shareholders on Sept. 17 that GTA VI launches as a single-player game, while GTA Online carries on in GTA V. “There’s no recurrent consumer spending anticipated with regard to this launch,” he said, per GTA Boom.
