The People’s Runway ended with a Fugees moment nobody had on the schedule. After KidSuper’s Colm Dillane sent five Brooklyn designers down a runway outside Borough Hall on Saturday (Sept. 12), Wyclef Jean closed the show in KidSuper and brought out Lauryn Hill, the Brooklyn Paper reported. The performance marked 30 years since the Fugees’ The Score, and the songs named were “Ready or Not” and “No Woman, No Cry.”
It was the second edition of The People’s Runway, which Dillane stages with Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and the only New York Fashion Week event open to the public. The designers were Kuai Li (“Tender Armor”), Lamin Rey Jaiteh (“iDEK,” short for I Don’t Even Know), Laurel Tiange Fang (“Forms of Water”), Moses Aina (“Legacy”) and Roderick Reyes (“Gettin’ Fly”). Each got a $5,000 grant from Reynoso, matched by Converse and Cash App, plus mentorship and full production.
There are so many talented people in Brooklyn with crazy ideas who just need someone to say, ‘Go do it.’

Dillane closed the fashion with four KidSuper looks, NSS reported, and walked out with his mother, Jeanne Quinn. The Songs of Solomon Choir, led by Bishop Chantel Wright, brought 30 young students to the steps. Fivio Foreign, Lil Mama, K Camp, NLE Choppa and Rich the Kid were among the guests.

Hill has history with the show: she sat in the front row at the first edition in 2025, according to the borough president’s release. This time she was the surprise. Reynoso, who has called the project a celebration of Brooklyn, put the idea more plainly.
Everybody’s VIP in Brooklyn.

The FADER filed the finale under its NYFW takeaways and summed up the room in one line: “The FOMO was real on this one.”
