For about two decades, the Eminem Air Jordan 4 “Encore” has been the sneaker that most people only see in photos. Now the long-rumored retail version might not happen at all. According to Kicks Finder, Sole Retriever reported on Thursday (Sept. 24), the pair has been removed from Jordan Brand’s Summer 2027 release calendar, and its status is “up in the air.”
The reply from Eminem’s camp didn’t settle much. When asked about the reported release, his manager Paul Rosenberg answered with a single word, per HotNewHipHop.
Nope.

It’s unclear whether that means the shoe is delayed or canceled, and neither Eminem nor Jordan Brand has said anything officially. The reported plan was a May 15, 2027 release in a Blue Ribbon, Game Purple, Stealth and Black color scheme, HotNewHipHop says, with a blue leather upper, translucent wing eyelets, Eminem branding behind the tongue and purple standing in for the original’s red on the Jumpman logos. The style code was JJ3098-400.

The original is the point. Eminem’s Jordans were made in 2005 to mark the release of his album Encore, Sole Retriever recounts, and only around 50 pairs reached circulation, most going to Eminem and his friends and family. Another 23 were produced for a charity auction in 2017. He has also worked on an Air Jordan 2 limited to 313 pairs and a Carhartt Air Jordan 4 limited to under 60.
The retail plan had already split collectors. In August, HotNewHipHop reported that some owners of originals felt a general release would water down what made the shoe a grail, while plenty of other fans were looking forward to finally having a chance at one.
A pulled date isn’t necessarily a death sentence. Sole Retriever points out that Jordan Brand’s calendars shift all the time: a Light Aqua Air Jordan 6 was removed from Fall 2026, then reappeared for Summer 2027, and an Air Jordan 1 High OG “Olive” scrapped for Holiday 2024 came back as a low-top in 2026.
As of Thursday, Sole Retriever says, the pair is not set to release, though “things can always change.”
