Models in tinsel and glitter walked a Copenhagen waterfront at sunset on Thursday (Aug. 6) with two puppies in tow, and it was the image of the city’s 20th Fashion Week. Collina Strada, the New York label run by Hillary Taymour, made its Copenhagen debut as the week’s International Guest Slot, in partnership with The Climate Pledge, showing its Pre-Spring 2027 collection, “Delirium in Bloom.”
Russh describes models in garments that twisted, gathered, layered and were sewn together in patchwork, with shoes that were “little more than toe-less sequinned socks.” Hunger says Taymour worked only with deadstock fabrics and built the collection around manipulation rather than embellishment: ethereal chiffon and tulle dresses opened the show, then gave way to glitter-covered models, tinsel trims and candy-colored looks with shredded hems. The Zoe Report says the styling made each model look like a party-goer heading home from a magical night out.

Copenhagen had its own stars. The week, which ran Aug. 3 to 7 and counted more than 34 shows and presentations, was known for what The Zoe Report called “playfully wearable” clothes, rooted in a city where people commute by bike in trousers and tees. Nicklas Skovgaard staged a girl-group-era show where models arrived one by one in vintage cars. By Malene Birger returned after six years with a sunset show that moved from white through pink and yellow to black, closed by the model Mona Tougaard. Anne Sofie Madsen’s “The New Desire” was scored live by the Danish recorder player Michala Petri.

The music moment was Herskind’s. Birgitte Herskind and her daughter, Andrea Hess, closed their runway to Madonna’s “Danceteria,” a track from her July album Confessions II, following a collection that undressed itself as it went, from military tailoring to undergarments to clouds of feathers, per Russh. It was an early sign of the song’s afterlife: in September Madonna and Charli xcx, who had sat side by side at Saint Laurent’s June show, reworked it as “Danceteria Afterhours.”
Copenhagen is the fashion calendar’s sustainability test case: designers must meet transparency guidelines to show, which is why Collina Strada, working only with deadstock, was an obvious guest. The week also drew Leslie Jones to Stine Goya and Erin Wasson to the final show, Caro Editions, and Milan’s Institution showed one of the strongest collections of the week, according to The Zoe Report.
The Zoe Report’s verdict on the city’s style is that it “may have been once dominated by the Ganni aesthetic, defined by bright colors and bold prints,” but that “a staid minimalism has taken root as a signature alternative.” This season’s guest slot, with its tinsel and puppies, was a reminder that the minimalists can still be talked into a party.
