The sign outside Madison Square Garden did the announcing. “JUST&T MARRIED!” ran across the arena's electronic screens on Friday (July 3), after Taylor Swift and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce said “I do” inside, the iHeart outlet The Herd reports, citing CNN.

Adam Sandler officiated, Swift's publicist, Tree Paine, said in an email, Bloomberg Law reports. The couple skipped bridesmaids and groomsmen: Swift's brother Austin served as her man of honor and Kelce's brother Jason as his best man. The Herd puts the guest list at 1,000 and names Ed Sheeran, Jack Antonoff, Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid among them. Both wore Christian Dior Couture designed by Jonathan Anderson, with Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry for Swift. (The designer later talked about dressing her.)

The wedding had been the worst-kept secret in New York all week. Complex noted workers unloading crates marked “Garden Party” and “Mirror Ball” at the arena, and, per Variety as cited by Complex, a small rehearsal dinner at the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Thursday, July 2 was to lead into a larger celebration in the main auditorium the next night. Neither Swift nor Kelce had publicly confirmed the details beforehand.

A giving campaign first

The week opened with a different kind of announcement. A Swift representative told Rolling Stone the couple had donated $26 million across 20 charities in cities tied to both of them, from Swift's hometown of Reading, Pa. to Kelce's Cleveland, plus national groups like Feeding America, the ASPCA and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. City Harvest said its share was $1 million, which its CEO, Jilly Stephens, called “a love letter to New York.”

That’s gonna be one special baby.

Parton, who thanked the couple on social media for their gift, joked that she'd like their first-born child in return, Rolling Stone reports.

How we got here

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement on Aug. 26, 2025, after two years of dating, with an Instagram caption that became its own meme: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The wedding arrives with a quiet chart anniversary, too. On July 1, 2006, a 16-year-old Swift made her first Billboard appearance when “Tim McGraw” entered Hot Country Songs at No. 60, Billboard noted that week.

What's next for her is music. Her latest single, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” from Toy Story 5, opened at No. 1 on the Hot 100 and on Hot Country Songs, per Billboard, and she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in June as its youngest woman ever.
