MUNA’s Gets So Hot Tour got a little too literal on Monday morning (Oct. 19). The band’s tour bus caught fire on the southbound 5 freeway in Burbank, California, and the group ended up on local TV as crews hosed it down, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork report. Everyone got out safely.
The group was traveling from Sunday night’s show in Stanford when the fire broke out, Stereogum reports, and the driver reportedly didn’t notice at first. KTLA captured the scene on camera and said several lanes of the freeway shut down. Per Rolling Stone, the driver apparently didn’t realize the bus was burning when the California Highway Patrol got a call at 8:00 a.m. The bus pulled over on an offramp, and the Burbank Fire Department put the fire out. Pitchfork says no one was injured, and reports so far don’t say what started the fire.

Oct 19, 2026 · View on Instagram ↗Naomi McPherson, who plays guitar and synths and sings in the band, answered in the comments with a curse of their own:
if anyone could help me find the grandchild of the warlock whose curse is wreaking havoc on my life so that i can carry em up the mountain & fulfill the prophecy / undo the curse that has befallen me that would be much appreciated.
Naomi McPherson, in a comment on MUNA’s Instagram post, Rolling Stone
The joke follows a hard few weeks. McPherson missed several tour dates in September to care for their mother, who was in the terminal stages of cancer, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork report, and is back on the road with the band.
The bus fire interrupts a run behind Dancing on the Wall, the trio’s fourth album, which came out earlier this year, per Stereogum. The Gets So Hot Tour began Sept. 25 in Philadelphia, and as of Pitchfork’s report it was proceeding as planned. MUNA’s next show is Wednesday (Oct. 21) at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre outside Denver, the last before a month of European dates, according to Rolling Stone. MUNA is also on the lineup for Chappell Roan’s Super Graphic Spectacular, a two-night benefit at Los Angeles’ Shrine on Oct. 21-22, per Spin, and on the bill for Laneway in Australia and New Zealand in February.
