Ciara Walked Junya Watanabe’s Paris Runway Three Times, the Last in a Crystal Chandelier

Ciara’s third lap of Junya Watanabe’s runway came with a chandelier. At the designer’s Spring/Summer 2027 show in Paris on Saturday (Oct. 3), the singer, who is pregnant with her fifth child, walked in three separate looks, and the last one was a bedazzled helmet with ropes of crystals hanging from it, Complex reports. Dazed says the strands stretched from her head to her knees. It was her catwalk debut, and she sang along to Chaka Khan’s “Like Sugar” on the way down.

All three looks were built on one base: purple leggings and a matching crop top cut with hot-pink racing stripes, a wide black belt slung low on the hips and red heeled boots. The first pass added a beige trench and an embellished black ball cap. For the second, the trench came off in favor of a black leather jacket sliced into strips and hung with zippers and beaded cords, per Complex; Billboard describes its dangling hardware and metallic trim.

She fit right in. Watanabe opened what Dazed calls Paris Fashion Week’s Japan day, the unofficial day when he, Comme des Garçons and Noir Kei Ninomiya show, with a collection of punks, cyborgs and witches: form-fitting, almost sporty two-pieces in black and pink under heavy metalwork, from a bra with huge protruding spikes to a breastplate with swords jutting out of it. Even the models were smiling, Dazed noted, and Complex cites Vogue’s review in reporting that the crowd cheered when Ciara appeared.

Vogue and Ciara revealed the surprise in a joint Instagram post. Ciara’s own message afterward admitted she had braced for a no.

“I held back tears while experiencing THIS MOMENT,” she added. Her husband, Russell Wilson, answered the footage with hearts and raised-hands emojis. The couple announced the pregnancy on Sept. 6 with the caption “One more person to love,” and 13 days later Ciara performed “Goodies,” “1, 2 Step” and “Level Up” at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, dropping into a backbend with a hand on her belly, Complex recalls. She finished Saturday at the BoF500 gala in a sheer black dress trimmed with floral appliqués.

Walking an avant-garde Paris show instead of watching from the front row fits how she has talked about dressing through a pregnancy. “You don’t have to stop and lose yourself in the process of creating a new life,” she said in a 2025 Vogue “Life in Looks” episode, as quoted by Complex. “So when it comes to fashion, I want to have fun. I want to dress this belly up!”
