Slayyyter has answered her own hit. “Brand New Chanel$” arrived Friday (July 31) with a self-directed video that cuts between a high school football field, an arty desert compound and the inside of a trailer where she's dressed as a Las Vegas showgirl, then ends in fireworks, Rolling Stone reports. It's a homage to her “Beat Up Chanel$” video and to the artwork for her latest album, Wor$t Girl in America.
She debuted the song at the opening night of her Wor$t Girl in the World tour on Sunday (July 26) in her hometown of St. Louis, along with three other unreleased songs: “NEKROMANTIK,” “I Think He's Got a Girl” and “Crank 2,” Billboard says. By Monday she was announcing the date on Instagram next to a live clip.
What it sounds like
The FADER calls it the literal inverse of “BEAT UP CHANEL$,” the lead single of Wor$t Girl in America, which paired a pounding, punk-ish verse with an electroclash chorus. This one is “all lights and sparkles, at least sonically,” with layers of washed-out synths, live drums and stacked ethereal chants, and a huge, haunting synth line in the chorus the FADER's critic describes as almost Hans Zimmer-esque. The lyrics are about being cheated on: “Tell me why’d you ever bring her / In my home while I was so far away.”

In Rolling Stone's excerpt the song's mood is lovelorn, with lines like “Send another weak I’m sorry,” and the chorus lands on a pose of survival: “Know what you do / I see how you move / But I’m here standing still,” the FADER writes. It is, the review says, “girl who’s going to be okay”-pop.
Why it matters
Slayyyter is having the summer her near-decade in the pop underground was building to. The album that gave her a first Billboard 200 entry at No. 22, per Billboard, was followed by a late-night TV debut, playing “Dance” on Fallon in a beer-can bralette, and a Billboard cover story with Bella Kay and Trueno, Pitchfork notes. In it she explained her taste in plain terms.
I don’t really like anything new—I don’t even like a Roomba.

She added that as AI floods music, “people are leaning into things that feel more real.” The FADER also notes a forthcoming sister project that reimagines and flips tracks from her major-label breakout.
What's next: Slayyyter plays Lollapalooza in Chicago on Friday, heads to Australia, then Reading and Leeds in August before the tour resumes Sept. 3 in Vancouver and wraps Nov. 5 at London's Roundhouse, per Rolling Stone. She later answered her own hit again with “Crank 2”, and her “I Think He's Got a Girl” video followed in October.
