A two-year legal fight between Ye and his former assistant has ended in a settlement, with no figures made public. The rapper settled the 2024 lawsuit brought by Lauren Pisciotta, who worked for him from 2021 to 2023, TMZ reports and court records confirm, according to Pitchfork. This story concerns allegations of sexual misconduct.

The settlement was reached on July 23, according to court documents obtained by USA Today and cited by Rolling Stone, and Pisciotta must now file a request to dismiss the case within 45 days. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. Her attorney, Arick Fudali, confirmed the outcome to both Pitchfork and USA Today.

The matter has been resolved.

What the case was about

Pisciotta, whose roles included personal and executive assistant, A&R and chief of staff for West and his companies, sued in June 2024 alleging sexual harassment, breach of contract and wrongful termination, Rolling Stone reports. She later amended the complaint, adding allegations of sexual assault and drugging, Pitchfork says, along with other claims including stalking, sex trafficking and false imprisonment, per Rolling Stone.

West's side has consistently denied the allegations. In an earlier statement to Rolling Stone, his legal representative called them “baseless” and accused Pisciotta of “blackmail and extortion.” The settlement does not say who was right, and neither side has publicly said what was agreed.

Why it matters

The case was one of a long line of legal fights that began after West's antisemitic tirade in fall 2022, Rolling Stone writes: suits from ex-Yeezy employees, teachers at his failed Donda Academy and musicians with sampling disputes. In March, a jury also found him liable in a separate suit over the gutting of his Malibu mansion, per the same report.

This one is closed, at least on the court docket. What's next is the dismissal filing, due within 45 days of the July 23 settlement. West has since played a Soldier Field homecoming in Chicago.
