For about a week, nobody knew what “T.R.M.” meant. Spotify had put the three letters on billboards across the country, and the guesses ran from a Selena Gomez album to a Playboi Carti project. On June 15, Future cleared it up: it is The Real Me, his next album, as Pitchfork reported at the time. On Thursday (June 25), he gave it a date.

Future, on X, Billboard

That was the whole announcement, per Billboard, along with a promise in a separate tweet that a “Pluto summer” is coming. The lead single, “Radio,” arrives Friday morning, and he teased its music video on his Instagram Story. “This not for the radio,” he half-croons on it, in the line Billboard quotes.

It will be his first album in nearly two years. Pitchfork notes the last Future solo project was Mixtape Pluto in 2024, and Billboard counts it as the first since back-to-back collaborations with Metro Boomin, We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You, both of which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 that year.

He has not been quiet in between. Future appeared on J. Cole’s The Fall-Off, reunited with Drake on ICEMAN, where “Ran to Atlanta,” also featuring Molly Santana, peaked at No. 2 on the Hot 100, and performed alongside Tyla at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Inglewood. The song they performed together, “Game Time,” was a World Cup anthem Billboard says he crafted with her. Watch it above.

The rollout has been a style piece, too. HotNewHipHop says a teaser he posted days earlier included clips of Pharrell Williams in the studio with him and new Louis Vuitton designs, set to a fuzzy, slightly dreary piano, which has fans guessing the sound could be melancholy and melodic, and that Pharrell could be involved. Nothing is confirmed. Drake is the other open question after “Ran to Atlanta.” Billboard also notes that Future squashed their feud in May.

Friday brings one answer. “Radio” and its video are first, and the album follows July 10.
