Drake delivered on his September deadline. FOMO, the “not so short film” he began teasing in August, premiered Tuesday night (Sept. 15), and it turned out to be exactly as sprawling as the title suggested: Drake on a speedboat, Drake working out, Drake in a Brat tee, a Sexxy Red appearance and snippets of new music, per Pitchfork.
It also served as the debut of Drake’s remix of Ella Langley’s record-setting “Choosin’ Texas,” which Pitchfork says slows the country-pop hit down and adds Don Toliver for an R&B touch. And at the premiere, he told fans he’ll go on tour in 2027.
How the rollout built
Drake started with a family photo captioned “FOMO 2026” in August, then a CD cover titled “Fear of Missing Out.” On Saturday (Sept. 12) he finally called it “a not so short film directed and scored by the family,” as Rolling Stone reports, posting a clip of himself driving a neon yellow speedboat while a voice asks what it would look like to find something you’ve gone missing from.

On Tuesday he put a name on the idea.

Videos don’t matter. Nobody is watching, nobody is listening. I still care. As much as I did on the set of ‘Best I Ever Had.’ So be kind and rewind.

Why it matters
It’s the latest stunt in a year of oversized Drake rollouts. His three May albums, Iceman, Maid of Honour and Habibti, made him the first artist to hold the top three spots on the Billboard 200 simultaneously, and Pitchfork notes they were promoted with an ice ziggurat in a Toronto parking lot. The film continues that pattern, and with 18 videos already attached to this year’s music, per Pitchfork, visuals are clearly part of how he’s competing.
The tour tease matters too. Drake hasn’t headlined a North American run since 2023’s It’s All a Blur Tour, Billboard notes, and fans have been waiting. At the premiere he said he will be going on tour in 2027.
