The first song from the new Hunger Games soundtrack is a Noah Kahan ballad about Haymitch and Lenore Dove, and it’s out now. “Draw You Out” arrived Friday (Oct. 2) with a lyric video, as the lead single from The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping (The Album), UPI reported.
Kahan wrote it for the film with Aaron Dessner of The National, who co-wrote and co-produced it at Long Pond Studio in New York and two Nashville studios, per uDiscover Music. It reunites the pair after The Great Divide, Kahan’s fourth album. Haymitch, played in the film by Joseph Zada, is a 16-year-old District 12 tribute, and Whitney Peak plays Lenore Dove.

Kahan said in an Instagram post, quoted by SPIN, that writing for film was something he had always wanted to do.
This is something I’ve always wanted to do and I am so grateful for the opportunity to write for this moving film.

What else is on the album
The full album arrives Nov. 13 on MCA, one week before the film opens in theaters. Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb is executive producer, and the record features 29 artists across genres. It is made up of new songs exclusive to the film and album, SPIN reports, and Kahan is the only artist named so far. Film Music Reporter adds that a separate album of James Newton Howard’s score is in the works, with no date yet.
Francis Lawrence directs for Lionsgate. The film is set 24 years before the first Hunger Games and also stars Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning and Maya Hawke. It opens Nov. 20, and the other 28 artists are still to be revealed. Gold Derby is already weighing the song’s Oscar chances in our Best Original Song race explainer.
