Kill Jackie is a hitman thriller that treats its soundtrack like a house party. Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage,” M.I.A.’s “Bad Girls,” Talking Heads’ “Burning Down the House,” Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL” and The Prodigy’s “Everybody in the Place” all turn up over the eight episodes, according to NME’s song-by-song log.
Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Jackie Price, an art dealer who spent 20 years staying anonymous after an earlier life as an international drug smuggler. Then she learns that The Seven Demons, a squad of elite assassins, has been hired to kill her, so she sets out to take them down first. Fremantle and Steel Springs Pictures made the series from Nick Harkaway’s novel The Price You Pay, written under the name Aidan Truhen, with the team behind Killing Eve, Gangs of London and John Wick attached, Señal News reports.

The title track is the first sign of the taste. The opening-credits theme, “The Price You Pay,” was written for the show by the New Zealand singer-songwriter Ladyhawke, and it borrows the novel’s title. The score is by the Australian composer Matteo Zingales, Aural Crave notes.
What’s in the mix
The Latin side runs from Bad Bunny to J Balvin and Willy William’s “Mi Gente,” Control Machete’s “Si Señor” and Ana Tijoux’s “1977.” The dance floor gets Dom Dolla and Nelly Furtado’s “Eat Your Man,” Santigold and Karen O’s “GO!” and two Chemical Brothers tracks, “Hey Boy Hey Girl” and “Block Rockin’ Beats.” Mark Ronson’s “Ooh Wee,” with Ghostface Killah, Nate Dogg, Trife and Saigon, sits beside Tom Jones’s “It’s Not Unusual,” Shirley Bassey’s “Spinning Wheel” and Boney M’s “Ma Baker.” Patti Smith’s “Dancing Barefoot” is in there too, and so are two Scorpions songs, “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and “Wind of Change.”
