Night City is getting a very different mixtape. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2, which hits Netflix on Oct. 20, opens on The Cure’s “10:15 Saturday Night,” closes on Petite Meller’s “Watson,” and has a Rico Nasty song written for it in between, Anime News Network reports. The Cure track, which ANN calls a 1978 song, was revealed at the show’s Anime Expo panel on July 3.
Rico Nasty’s “You Can’t Run From Me” arrived with the first trailer. Complex credits its writing to Maria Kelly and Drew Polovick, with Rico Nasty performing, and notes that Tsuneo Imahori, known for Trigun, composed the original score. A second single followed in August: “A Rusty Dream” by the Chinese indie-pop duo DOUDOU, released through Milan Records and featured in a later trailer. The duo described what the song is about in a statement carried by ANN:
If everything were to disappear, what would ultimately remain to prove that ‘I’ ever existed? I only hope that someone will remember: I was here, I loved, and I belonged to myself.

The soundtrack is part of the pitch for a story with new characters. This is a standalone, 10-episode tale from CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger rather than a continuation of the first season. Kai Ikarashi directs, in his directorial debut, and Bartosz Sztybor returns as writer. Netflix’s pitch in June was short: “New crew. Same chaos.” Netflix released a “sneak peek” on Sept. 22 that teases an escape from an Arasaka building. Watch the second teaser, which carries the Rico Nasty song, below.
The newest cast news is Daniel Wu, who is the English voice of Kiril Yang, according to Final Weapon. CD Projekt Red describes the character as “Avida’s husband and Talia’s father. A composed Kang Tao executive whose smooth corporate calm masks cold authority.” The rest of the English cast includes Clancy Brown as Weak, Nazeeh Tarsha as D, Kimoy Lee as Talia and Valeria Rodriguez as Roman Carax.
The first Edgerunners debuted on Netflix in September 2022 and won Anime of the Year at the 2023 Anime Awards, Complex notes. Its follow-up arrives on Oct. 20, with the first episode already screened at Anime Expo in July.
