Pitbull’s fans have been dressing like him for years, and on Friday (July 10) London made it official. A total of 22,141 people wearing bald caps were counted in Hyde Park before his headline set at BST, and Guinness World Records recognized it as the largest gathering of people in bald caps, ITV News reports.

It was the first attempt under official adjudication, so there was no previous record to beat. The count was done by 400 volunteers plus drone footage and 42 counters backstage, per Far Out. Pitbull had to wear a bald cap himself to be included, since the record is about caps, not hairlines. Many fans also copied his suit, black aviators and stick-on goatee, AFP reported, in temperatures of 31 degrees Celsius.

Record breaking, record making, history in the making.

The idea came from BBC Radio 1 presenter Greg James, who texted the rapper on air earlier this year. James presented him with the framed certificate, and Pitbull shouted, “We did it Bald-es.” At a press conference he told Complex what the record meant: “Who would’ve ever thought a first-generation Cuban would be able to be in London, record-breaking and record-making?”

The show

The crowd of 69,999 was also the highest attendance in the history of BST Hyde Park, per Far Out. Pitbull played a 20-song set of hits including “Hotel Room Service,” “International Love” and “Don’t Stop the Party,” and covered Oasis’s “Wonderwall,” which has become an unofficial England anthem during the World Cup, per the same report. Kesha and Lil Jon, who both joined him for their collaborations, and Tinie Tempah played earlier that day.

Why it matters

Pitbull has leaned into the “Baldies” as a movement. He compared them to Jimmy Buffett’s Parrotheads and the Grateful Dead’s Deadheads, and told reporters that without the fans, “there’s no Pitbull.” He also placed the attendance record in a lineage at the venue: “To be able to break the record as far as attendance and get the baton passed from Garth Brooks... what a day.”

The “Wonderwall” cover is a nod to Oasis, whose 2027 tour dates were announced in September. The World Cup final was nine days away, with its own first-ever halftime show.
