Lil Wayne’s reaction to his Hollywood Walk of Fame news was the same as most people’s: no way. On Thursday (July 23), the Walk of Fame Selection Committee announced its Class of 2027, a 32-name group that includes ten artists in the Recording category, and Wayne found out through his longtime collaborator Fabian Marasciullo, Complex reports.
In a post on X, the New Orleans rapper wrote that Marasciullo had “just told me that it’s been confirmed that im getting my own star on the Hollywood walk of fame,” news he first took as a joke. Wayne joins Karol G, Grandmaster Flash, Sia, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park, David Guetta, the Ramones and Marc Shaiman in the Recording class, and Waylon Jennings will be honored posthumously, per Rolling Stone.

The wider class includes Cheech & Chong, Elle and Dakota Fanning in a double ceremony, Kate Hudson, Idris Elba, Delroy Lindo, Sam Rockwell and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos on the motion-picture side, and Pedro Pascal, Adam Scott, Lisa Kudrow and Keke Palmer in television. Charlamagne tha God is honored in Radio and Pussycat Dolls’ Nicole Scherzinger in Live Performance.
This class continues the proud legacy of the Walk of Fame,
Ron Frierson, president and CEO, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, Complex
Frierson called them “performers whose voices moved us, storytellers who expanded our view of the world, visionaries who brought unforgettable characters to life and trailblazers whose influence will be felt for generations to come.” Selection Chairman Peter Roth said the 32 honorees “have each made a lasting impact on audiences around the world.”
Why it matters
For music, the Recording category is the headline: ten acts spanning hip-hop’s origins (Grandmaster Flash), punk (the Ramones), outlaw country (Waylon Jennings), stadium rock (Linkin Park, whose Unshatter documentary reaches theaters Sept. 30) and today’s Latin and rap stars. It’s also a class of living headliners still making news. Smashing Pumpkins headlined Lollapalooza eight days later, and Palmer was at Comic-Con the next day.
Ceremonies come later. Rolling Stone says exact dates for each honoree’s ceremony are listed on the Walk of Fame website.
