sixbill doesn’t write his lyrics down. On “ALL FOR IT,” a song on his new album Pure Lust, that meant punching in take after take until the verse landed. He told The FADER the story on Tuesday (Oct. 20), over email, along with five other songs from the project, which came out Oct. 16.
The FADER places him in Jackson Heights, Queens, where he grew up after being born in Colombia, with a good chunk of his teenage years spent in Florida. It calls his best songs “plush and magnetic,” and credits producers including Luc1us, Sicko1of1 and CXSKET with the beats: “warped ambient textures” on “SEVRAGE,” “trilling arpeggios” on “ALL FOR IT” and “roiling, distorted bass” on “BAMBIE.” HotNewHipHop hears rage and cloud rap across the album, with features from Pz’, diamond* and Chuckyy, and Apple Music lists 14 songs.

The first song he walks through, “SEVRAGE,” is the one with an official video, and its story is about speed.
If I hear a good beat, I will stop what I’m doing and go straight to the studio. I have to get it out.

The collaborations are the point of the piece. “MASQUERADE” came out of a Hollywood studio party where Pz’ was making songs upstairs, and sixbill says it was the first song the two ever made together.
I was downstairs, just having a good time and when I went up there, he played a beat and he laid down the hook and then I just went in over it

“VENTI” was the first song he made with diamond*, at Luc1us’ place in Los Angeles; they made two that night. “WIPE YA NOSE” was his first with Chuckyy, recorded at a New York studio. “I got Chuckyy on his third AutoTune song ever,” he says. “BAMBIE,” his first release with Sicko1of1, has nearly 100,000 SoundCloud plays, he says, and “got me back on people’s radar again,” so it made the album.
That radar was already pinging. The FADER says he earned a Rolling Loud slot this year off last summer’s LIVE LAUGH COUNT, and The Barricade Beat says he played Rolling Loud Orlando in May. Outlets disagree on what Pure Lust is: HotNewHipHop calls it a debut album, while The FADER treats LIVE LAUGH COUNT as the debut and Pure Lust as the follow-up. The Barricade Beat calls it a sophomore project. For the wider scene around him, see our look at the artists running the underground this year.
The last song on his list is the one he worked hardest on, and it made the album late:
I don’t write down lyrics so I just kept punching in to get it right and do the beat justice.
