Two weeks ago Sienna Spiro was the VMAs’ Best New Artist. Now the British singer gets to find out what that’s worth on the road. Her My House World Tour opens its North American leg on Tuesday (Oct. 13) at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, the first of 18 shows that end Nov. 10 at the Wiltern in Los Angeles.
She arrives with momentum to spare. Her debut album, Visitor, released through Capitol on July 3, was just certified gold by the RIAA for 500,000 units, Music Week reported. It reached No. 9 in the U.S., making her the first British artist in eight years to land a debut album in the top 10, and No. 2 in the U.K., where “Great Expectation” spent three weeks at No. 1. Music Week says the whole tour is sold out, with more than 135,000 tickets moved worldwide.
“I truly can’t wait for this tour,” she said when she announced it in June. “This is the biggest I’ve ever done and we’re going to perform in places I’ve never been before!”
The routing runs from the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta and the Brooklyn Paramount to Montreal, Toronto, Chicago’s Riviera Theatre and two nights at the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver. One stop is a callback: on Nov. 9 she returns to San Francisco’s Castro Theatre, where she joined Sam Smith in March for a surprise duet of her song “Die On This Hill.”
The voice is the draw. Spiro started writing songs at 10, grew up on Frank Ocean, Etta James, Frank Sinatra and Amy Winehouse, and recorded Visitor at Electric Lady in New York, Abbey Road in London and Valentine in Los Angeles, with Omer Fedi as executive producer. Her vocal on “The Visitor” was recorded in one take, over a 20-piece string orchestra led and arranged by Peter Rotter, whose credits include Oppenheimer. Watch the video below.
After North America, the tour heads to Asia in January (Tokyo, Seoul, Manila, Singapore), then Australia and New Zealand, a U.K. and European run from Feb. 22 in Edinburgh to March 30 in Madrid, with two nights at London’s Eventim Apollo, and a June 15 show at Fairview Park in Dublin.
