Hov is going home. Jay-Z will play two nights at Yankee Stadium this July, one built around his 1996 debut Reasonable Doubt and one around 2001’s The Blueprint. “Two historic nights to celebrate the iconic albums Reasonable Doubt and The Blueprint,” Roc Nation wrote Wednesday (March 18), listing “JAŸ-Z 30 on Friday, July 10” and “JAŸ-Z 25 on Saturday, July 11.” The post ended with “Stay Tuned.”
Rolling Stone says he will perform each album in full. Pitchfork notes that the announcement arrived a day after Jay was named a headliner of the Roots Picnic, and later added a third Yankee Stadium show, called Extra Innings, on July 12. Tickets went on general sale March 24, Rolling Stone reported.
Why it matters
Jay-Z has been quiet in a live setting for years. His last big solo tour was in 2017, Pitchfork notes, and he has since appeared mostly at special events, including a cameo at a 2025 Cowboy Carter tour stop in Paris and the 2024 Tom Brady Hall of Fame ceremony. Billboard counts the Roots Picnic set, in Philadelphia on May 30, as his first performance with The Roots in a decade.

The shows follow a pile of hints. Billboard says he put “Dead Presidents” on streaming for the first time, launched a new website, dropped vinyl of classic tracks and restored the umlaut to JAŸ-Z, as he had in the Reasonable Doubt era. Fans spent the first quarter wondering whether it all pointed to new music. His last solo album was 2017’s 4:44, and the 2018 joint LP with Beyoncé, Everything Is Love, came out under the Carters name.
The chart story
The two albums have very different chart histories. Billboard notes that Reasonable Doubt peaked at No. 23 on the Billboard 200 in 1996, while The Blueprint topped the chart for three weeks in 2001. Yankee Stadium has history with him too: in September 2010, he and Eminem took over the stadium for a pair of star-studded shows on their Home & Home Tour.

What happened next
He did open the Roots Picnic with a four-minute freestyle that appears to answer Drake. The Yankee Stadium run, including Extra Innings, ended with a set that closed at nearly 3 a.m., with Rihanna, Beyoncé and Usher joining after a three-hour delay.
