Drake spent more than a year promising one album, then used the end of a livestream to hand over three. After playing Iceman in full on Thursday night (May 14), he held up three hard drives while text on screen read, “I made this so that I could make this.” At midnight, Iceman arrived alongside two surprises, Habibti and Maid of Honour.
Drake put out 43 tracks, nearly two and a half hours of music, on Friday (May 15). The guest list includes Future, 21 Savage, Sexyy Red, PartyNextDoor and rising star Molly Santana, with production from Noah “40” Shebib, Tay Keith and others. The first single, “What Did I Miss?,” was unveiled in July 2025 during the first episode of the Iceman livestream series.

Each album has its own lane, which is the point. Pitchfork calls Iceman the blockbuster rap record, “packed with his heaviest beats in years.” Habibti is Drake’s Heartbreak mode, with classic R&B on tracks like “I’m Spent” and “Classic.” Maid of Honour is the club record, opening with a flip of “Fergalicious” on “Hoe Phase.” Complex’s first-listen verdict was that Iceman is the best of the three: “what 1 vs. 20 sounds like as an album.”

The stakes are the reason this landed as an event. It is Drake’s first solo album since 2023’s For All the Dogs and his first since the 2024 feud with Kendrick Lamar, whose “Not Like Us” won multiple Grammys. He answers it, but not with the fire of his last diss. On “Make Them Remember,” Pitchfork notes, he waves GNX away as “mid, mid, mid, skip, skip.” The harder targets are former allies, and we break down who Drake is mad at on Iceman song by song.
The Iceman rollout was simultaneously annoying, unpredictable, and genuinely exciting. That’s a rarity these days.
The FADER, The FADER
That rollout turned downtown Toronto into a stage set: ice blocks in the street, the CN Tower as a projection screen, and a frozen installation with the release date sealed inside. On the albums themselves he is just as direct about his label. All three were released “under exclusive license to Republic Records,” part of UMG, yet he sings of wanting out. “I’m better off independent,” he says on “Make Them Pay.” How many albums he still owes UMG hasn’t been made public.
