Stevie Nicks sang “Crystal” in the first Practical Magic in 1998. For the sequel, which opened Friday (Sept. 11), Nicks is back with “Landslide,” and Olivia Rodrigo is in the film too, Rolling Stone confirmed. Rodrigo’s “the cure” plays in one scene and “Landslide” in another, and the two contributed separately.
The pairing first surfaced at Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields festival in Irvine, Calif., where she brought Nicks out to sing “Landslide” in front of a crowd of 45,000. Sandra Bullock reposted the clip on Instagram, and Nicks said what she saw in her duet partner.
She reminds me of me, when I was her age, 100 years ago.

The album, from WaterTower Music, opens with three new songs: Bleachers’ “Caught Myself Believing,” Aldae’s “Blur” and Brandi Carlile’s film version of Billy Joel’s “And So It Goes,” per Film Music Reporter and Stereogum. FandomWire reports that Carlile recorded hers after a FaceTime call from Bullock. Jack Antonoff said of the Bleachers song:
It was an absolute joy to get together as a band and make a song for this soundtrack.

Neither “Landslide” nor “the cure” made the 20-track album, Stereogum notes. The rest of it is Rupert Gregson-Williams’ score, which runs 17 cues from “Our Story” to “Custard.” The film’s other needle drops include Marvin Gaye, Elvis Presley, Miriam Makeba and Harry Nilsson’s “Coconut,” plus two returns from 1998: Nicks and Sheryl Crow’s “If You Ever Did Believe” and Faith Hill’s “This Kiss.”
Susanne Bier’s film reunites Bullock and Nicole Kidman, and it has earned about $64.8 million domestically in its first 24 days, according to The Numbers.
