The WILD HEARTS trailer keeps walking away from the stage. Between packed shows and rehearsals, the preview that arrived Wednesday (Sept. 30) cuts to Sophia Laforteza sitting alone in a dark room, a moment Billboard read as a hint of “the pressure behind the scenes.” KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS streams Oct. 16 on Disney+ and Hulu in the U.S. and on Disney+ internationally, after a limited theatrical run in August.
The director has been filming the group since before it existed. Nadia Hallgren made Michelle Obama’s Becoming and Netflix’s 2024 docuseries Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE, which followed the Dream Academy contest that formed the group. Interscope Films and Boardwalk Pictures produced the new film with HYBE x Geffen. New interviews with the members and unseen footage sit alongside videos shot by fans, and the press notes call it “a love letter to the EYEKONS who helped build this movement,” per Consequence.

It doesn’t pretend the lineup is intact. The film covers Manon Bannerman’s hiatus, which began in February. “She will forever be such an integral part of the journey of KATSEYE, and of course she’s included in the film,” Lara Raj told Entertainment Tonight at the premiere, per Complex. Sophia stepped back in August and returns in January, so the group is performing as four for now. Here’s where the lineup stands.
That makes the release a victory lap and a stress test at once. WILD, KATSEYE’s third EP, opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 170,000 units, the biggest first week for a female group in 18 years, Billboard reports. In a late-September interview with the same outlet, the group described how they have handled the changes:
We’ve learned that supporting each other isn’t always about having the right answer — sometimes it’s just being there and reminding each other that we’re not alone. We’re still growing as individuals and as a group, and we’re learning to embrace that along the way.

The film lands in the middle of the busiest stretch of KATSEYE’s year. The WILDWORLD Tour’s North American leg opens Oct. 13 at Miami’s Kaseya Center, three days before WILD HEARTS starts streaming, and runs through Atlanta, Los Angeles and Montreal before two closing nights at Mexico City’s Palacio de los Deportes on Nov. 27 and 28.
