It took IShowSpeed about 48 hours to turn a viral song into an official part of the World Cup. On June 1, Warner Records dropped his new single “World Cup (Champions),” and the streamer promptly tagged FIFA’s account with a question: can we make this official?

Jun 1, 2026 · View on X ↗FIFA’s account first replied with a pair of eyes and “we will be in touch,” according to Complex. Then, during a livestream on Wednesday (June 3), Darren Watkins Jr. opened an Instagram DM from the account. It read: “We heard it. We liked it. It’s on the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album,” per Net Influencer. He jumped on his bed, did Cristiano Ronaldo’s “Siuuu” celebration and settled on a verdict.
It’s on the World Cup album. It’s official. Let’s go.

The video is the song’s whole pitch. Watch it below. It was shot in stadium-style settings with national flags, colored powder and Ghanaian cultural touches, directed by Zach Madden, with Speed in Ronaldo’s Portugal shirt throughout. The five-minute anthem opens with a roll call of all 48 nations in the tournament.
Why it matters
The numbers explain FIFA’s DM. The video collected about 3 million YouTube views in 13 hours and 6 million at the 24-hour mark, Net Influencer reported, with the song’s teaser clips pulling tens of millions more on Instagram and X. Some fans had gone further and said it should be the official song. That put a creator’s release in an argument usually reserved for the official anthems on the album, including Tyla and Future’s “Game Time” and “Goals” from LISA, Anitta and Rema, according to Bandwagon.

It also extends a relationship. Speed’s 2022 “World Cup” single is a soccer staple with roughly 97 million Spotify streams, and in May 2025 FIFA president Gianni Infantino appeared on his channel to unveil the Club World Cup trophy.
The 18-track FIFA album arrives June 5 through FIFA Sound and Universal Music, six days before the tournament opens in Mexico City, where Shakira and Burna Boy headline the opening ceremony.
